Alternative product page layout#5

People seem to complain about how big the images get. Any further input below is appreciated.

The images on the product page are too large. Would suggest smaller image with a column to show/select the other images of the product.. like you had in the alternative product page.

Agree with the comment above. Images are too large. Would be great to have a carousel type format, with thumbnails.

Agree on images being disproportionately large and also would love to see closed box around the variant options. The rest of the theme is so beautiful but the product page (which is so important for conversions!) is comparably not well designed

100% agree with everyone else. Images are too large and causes the product description to be pushed to the side and remains idle until a substantial amount of the photos are scrolled past. An alternative page with a carousel option would be very much appreciated!

I agree that images are too large. Really had to work hard to simplify the ordering options & description, because it looks so squished. Would recommend an option that allows images to run 50% of width.

Having to scroll to the bottom of the page to read all of the description is a huge issue. This fix would be amazing 🤩

I agree with all of these comments. I set up 4 different themes this week to compare them all, and I absolutely love Lorenzo – it’s by far my favorite of the ones I’m testing out. But man, those product pages are hard to get over. It makes no sense to me that it was set up that way — I can’t think of a specific product or industry where that format would be beneficial.

I’m hoping to be able to customize it to make it work — but am hoping an alternative will be available ASAP. Please prioritize this as soon as your team has the bandwidth for it!

Our store has several varients for colour option on products. The scroll down function on the product page ends up being really long on some items. It would be amazing to have a thumbnail section! Otherwise this theme has all I was looking for.

Just a quick note that we’ve settled on what this should look like and we’re working on wiring it into a new version.

Thanks for being patient with us on this one. The ask was a bit of a challenge, because there is no maximum width imposed on any of our pages in Lorenza. Images would always stretch to fill 2/3 of the page (making them large). Imposing a max width on just the product page would have been introducing something inconsistent, so we were at a bit of a loss for an easy fix.

Anyway, on an off chance, we decided to test to see whether imposing a max-width created a clear visual consistency problem (as we suspected it would) or whether it would be unnoticable. We quickly discovered that there wasn’t a problem. Imposing a maximum was barely noticeable!

So, here’s what we’ve done: (1) we’ve tweaked the proportion of product details and product images (we’ve weighted the details more heavily). (2) we’ve imposed a maximum width on the product images/details area, (3) we’ve introduced the option of thumbnails (along with controls to tweak the size of the thumbnails), and we’ve introduced the ability to tweak the placement of the thumbnails so that they either sit beside the product images, or below (your choice). And of course, the old product template is still available as an option.

We have to pass these changes to Shopify for approval next week, but they usually do not ask us to make significant changes on stuff like this. But provided they don’t ask for anything, this should all be live in the theme store by the end of next week. Reach out to support if you’re looking to upgrade.
